PORTUGUESE ECONOMY GROWS 2,8% IN THE FIRST QUARTER

The Portuguese economy posted growth of 2.8% in the first quarter of 2017, against the same period of last year. Compared to the previous quarter it grew by 1%, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The Portuguese government has forecast growth for this year of 1.8%, according to the 2017-2021 Stability Programme presented in April.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in April raised its projections for the Portuguese economy in 2017, and now expects growth of 1.7% this year, compared to a previous projection of 1.1%, but slightly below the government forecast.
